i wouldn’t recommend getting a pug as their flat face makes it hard for them to breathe, sometimes leading to a premature death. and a chuck buck said, they are a lot of work as you do have to clean out their wrinkles. also, believe it or not, pugs’ eyes can actually fall out of their socket without much force (because of their short snout).

if you’re one that loves to teach tricks to your dog and is willing to socialize it well, a Yorkie can be a good choice tho they are terriers which are small hunting dogs so small animals has to be introduced early on and they may not look like it but they love to excercise!

Parth bhatia ANY brachycephalic (flat faced dog) like pugs, Boston terriers, French bulldogs etc have the issue that their eyes can pop out their sockets, they overheat very quickly, and often require expensive surgery to even be able to breathe properly.
I would never support the breeding of dogs like these, so if you want one then definitely rescue one.

You have to think about your lifestyle. Some small dogs are laid back (like pugs) whereas others like Jack Russell can be level 3 energy dogs easily.

A “maltipoo” is a designer cross, so it will be near impossible to find an ethical breeder. You will however be able to find people that breed yorkies for their health and temperament. Just remember to not go with anyone that hasn’t fully health tested both parents, doesn’t have a strict puppy contract and wouldn’t take the puppy back if you ever needed them to.

Or, as everyone else has suggested, go to a reputable rescue and find a dog or puppy there that suits your lifestyle and needs.

Hey Zak! I love watching your videos and I have used them a lot for training my new 4 month old male golden retriever puppy!
I had a question though about food aggression. I have tried feeding him from my hand, putting my hands in the bowl, and even getting him a maze bowl to slow his eating down but all of these methods have still led to him snarling at me every meal time.
I’m really running out of ideas and I would really appreciate some your help!

While he is eating… walk up and add something of greater value to the kibble, like turkey or cheese, walk away and repeat several times during the meal. That way he doesn’t view you as a threat of taking his food away. As he gets more and more comfortable, add touch to the scenario. Walk up and touch then add the turkey/cheese. Take it slow.. you just need to build the trust.. it will happen.

Any thought on making a video just from the questions found in the comments?

I’d love to see something on training a puppy to use a dog door. My frenchie is afraid of small spaces and will NOT push ANYTHING no matter how hard I try to teach her, she just wont. I can crate her by simply moving the gate closed enough that she cant fit through the opening, she wont try and escape.

Labs are way, way more easy to train and require less grooming and exercise than huskies.
I love huskies (I have one) but they really need a job to do and very consistent training. You have to accept that it’ll probably never be able to go off leash, and won’t be content with a 30 minute stroll round the block or game of fetch.
If you’re up for the training challenge, grooming requirements and exercise needs then huskies make awesome companions. For most people however, a typical show line lab suits their needs far better.

Chloe Thank you! I like both, how they look and personality, buy labs are easier to learn tricks and won’t run away from me…. I guess I will go with a lab!
