Amy McNay Hey. I managed to persuade my parents by saying that 1= I’m not the healthiest teen and I need motivation to exercise (it doesn’t have to be true 😂) 2. I need something to fill in the extra time since I always finish my homework early (also doesn’t have to be true 😂) 3. I heard Dogs can assist with mental illnesses, stress and anxiety. 4. You could tell your parents about the dogs that have saved their owners in different situations. 5. You could find the breed if dog you want and show your ‘more pushy’ parent/guardian of adorable pictures and videos of the dog you want and say “isn’t it so cute ” until they completely fall in love with the breed. if I were you I would do it in the order 5,4,3,2,1 as I did and now I’m getting a puppy this summer.😆 Good luck to you in getting yours 🐶 💝

Please keep in mind that dogs don’t stay puppys forever. I don’t know your age, let’s suppose you are 14: are you ready to take care of him even when you are 20, or 24, taking him out 2 or 3 times a day, making him burn his energy (it never ends) everyday by playing, running, sniffing around always the same places, under the rain, or the hot sun.. I’m nearly 40, I got a rescue dog 8 months ago, I love him like a child (I don’t have any children), but I would never thought for him to be so demanding.. Also, I definitely want his training to be completely force free, but sometimes you just have a bad day, and you end up asking too much too fast, and get angry at him.. Leash walking is the hardest, he always have something different in mind than you..

Hey zak, I was wondering if you could post some more higher level training videos, Ive been using your videos since my dog was a puppy and now were starting to get ready to start agility and possibly disc dog, your old videos have some good info, but you dont seem to post high level training very much anymore.

Also any idea why positive only training is common in agility and rally but people in obedience seem still so focused on using punishment?
