Nana the Border Collie Carries Out Remarkable Pet Tricks

Amazing dog tricks performed by my buddy: a Border Collie called Nana! From footstalls, to walking front paw handstands, to running backwards, Nana does it all.

All of Nana’s training is done exclusively with favorable reinforcement and remote control training. Nana decides to do all the behaviours in this video, and when she performs a trick, she is rewarded with great deals of appreciation, toys, and treats. She loves exactly what she does, and to her, “training” is all simply a huge video game we play together!

My goal with my training is to show the world that anything can be attained with favorable reinforcement! Keep in mind constantly to use positive training methods with your pet.

No video is accelerated or reversed. Nana much like to perform her tricks quick, and she truly is walking in reverse.

Nana knows numerous other tricks that are not included in this video. Make certain to take a look at her other videos for more incredible pet techniques!

The music contained in this video is the work of Josh Woodward.

In response to Sara Beth Cox’s comment (which I am unable to reply to):

The coffee table trick is a fun and colourful way for the dog to practise impulse control. This is the same concept behind the “treat balance & catch” trick, as well as halting on cue whilst chasing after a stimulus (toy, squirrel, car, etc.). Impulse control is an extremely important skill for any dog to have that could save the dog’s life. There are many fun ways to practise impulse control, including following cues before retrieving a favourite toy (as outlined in this video of Nana, at around 0:24: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwzBT_Pv-qI) or with simple, fun tricks such as the coffee table trick. Nana gets rewarded royally after removing the items from her bottom, no worries. 😉 And trust me, if she didn’t enjoy doing the trick, she wouldn’t do it. End of story.

Very agile smart adorable dog and awesome training. All great but one thing I don’t understand : why would anyone want to teach their dog to limp like a crippled animal? It looks horrible! lol yea, honestly why?

All of my animals, including Nana, are professional animal actors trained for motion pictures, commercials, television shows, and other media work. The “limp” trick is one of many behaviours that are sometimes required for acting out a specific scene. As well, teaching a dog to walk whilst elevating one of their paws is excellent for coordination and strength training. Nana can walk with any one of her four paws elevated. Human interpretations of the appearance of this behaviour is irrelevant in this regard, since it is more of an exercise for the dog rather than a “trick”, by conventional definition.

What, no Greensleeves (Lassie) on the piano. You do a fantastic job of training, and Nana is a genius.
Told my brother about Nana, and envisioned her at a chessboard looking over her reading glasses with an expression of “are you going to take all day?”

Nana is so cute. I wish she was my dog. My dog can do tricks but she is no where near as clever as Nana. My dog just does simple tricks
